With a fire in my bones and the sweet taste of kerosene

Shredded dress made by me, accessories gifted & F21, booties F21

More photos from the recent shoot I did for my website; there's been so much to do lately and my heads been such a mess. I've been having a hard time getting all the many ideas and thoughts in my mind sorted in their proper places and actually following through is another huge task in itself, being the extreme procrastinator I am. I think my procrastination actually stems more from fear of the outcome and being let down rather than a lack of motivation itself. I just seem to find myself constantly a mix with what I want to do and how I'm going to do it. I mean, aside from the fact that getting the site running and all the details sorted has been such a larger task than I'd ever imagined, the fact that I'm so impatient and constantly hoping things will just work themselves out so I can get things moving is constantly nagging at me. All stresses and worries aside though, it's extremely exciting to watch an idea and goal of yours materialize itself before your eyes and become something palpable. I can't wait for all of the relief and new excitement to be had that's sure to come along with my new and hopefully *fingers crossed* successful business venture.

In other news, I've been enjoying spending my free time thinking up and making different styles of tops to sell, pondering over what color to dye my hair, and working on a relationship with the guy that always puts a smile on my face and never ceases to entertain with his care free spirit and witty sense of humor. I'm learning all relationships have their rough patches and it's all about what you take from them and how you can better not only your bond together but yourself from them that matters. I've been seeing quite a few movies again lately, which is always one of my favorite things to do (if you didn't know I'm a HUGE movie freak already- now you do). Most recently I saw The American with George Clooney, and let me put this lightly - it was AWFUL. I mean, not to say George isn't a great actor, but the story line and the build up and confusion that ended up leading to nothing and such an anti-climatic ending was such a let down; but hey- that's just myy opinion. However, I'm highly anticipating seeing Resident Evil 3D tomorrow for date night; call me a dork but I'm a huge fan of all the movies.

On a side note, my shoe obsession is getting a litttttleeee out of hand. Being that I don't quite have the funds to feed my ever growing need for new foot candy, it isn't the best habit to have at the moment. I'll put up some photos of my most recent purchases soon. I'm also absolutely thrilled over the current transition into Fall. Though it's still quite warm and sunny out here in So Cal; the crispness and chill in the air is starting to come around and I can hardly wait for all the holidays, events (including my 20th birthday, woohoo two decades!), weather, and dress code the next few months are sure to bring about. Oh, and not to mention all the Season Premieres of some great shows! I mean seriously- The Office, Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, Dexter, Medium and the new highly anticipated HBO series Boardwalk Empire...the list goes on and on-I'll definitely be putting the DVR to good use to say the least.

Hope everyones' back to school/work schedules have gone smoothly and all is well! Let me know what your favorite part of the Fall season is, I'd love to hear.

It's all false love and affection, you don't like me you just want the attention

Wearing: DIY shredded front tank (made by me), thrifted shorts and sandals, misc. jewelery thrifted and from LA fashion district, sunnies from Claire's access. (HA! seriously!), Kenneth Cole watch

I have spent the past few days working furiously on miscellaneous DIY projects, turning up more and more adorable tanks, tees, and dresses that I'm hoping to sell (though I don't know how I'll part with many of them!). Though the concept of making them is quite simple, it takes a considerable amount of time, energy, and patience to get them done & looking the way you want. I keep coming up with more ideas for styles and ways to go about making them and it's actually been quite fun for me; I love projects that take up all of your concentration and leave you with a result that surprises you. Besides that, I've spent a day at the beach boogie boarding (yes, I still call it boogie boarding) with my youngest sister, watching countless scary movies and Office re-runs, and nursing a pretty serious sunburn. Today I picked up a couple new additions to add to the shoe collection that I couldn't be more excited about (will put up pictures soon), I think my addiction grows by the minute! I'm really anticipating seeing Dinner For Schmucks which I've heard many good things about, and I know I won't be disappointed with my favvv Steve Carell in the mix. If anyone else has seen it, let me know what you think!

My Happiness Was When I Was Young And We Didn't Give A Damn, Cause We Were Raised To See Life As Fun And Take It If We Can

Dress- Collective Concepts, Headband and Sunglasses- vintage, Misc. Jewelery- thrifted, vintage, and from a number of local boutiques, Shoes- Nine West

On Top of Dresser- glass jar with colorful stones collected from local beaches; mineral soaps in rose petal and lavender; photo of my mom, my sisters, and I; vintage woven basket filled with assorted head bands and hair accessories; vintage engraved jewelery box filled with treasures; assorted bracelets, vintage sunnies, and grandpa's old watch; faerie bottle incense burner; Corsica Voluspa Kukui & Shea Butter body moisturizer

Well the time has come for a much over-due outfit post. I'm a huge fan of anything grey black or white, and as much as I try to avoid it, these three basic colors tend to be what I gravitate to the majority of the time. When I come across something in one of these colors that just has a little something extra however, I MUST have it. This flowy grey dress is loose and fitted in all the right places, is amazingly comfortable (very important to me), and is open on the sides. You can pair it with almost anything, but sadly I seem to forget it's existence in the back of my wardrobe, like many things I own. When I came across it today while trying to somewhat get my closet in order, I was reunited with the soft fabric and the realization of just how wearable it is.

It's so beautiful outside today, I don't want to let it waste away so I'm going to lounge outside in the local park under a big shady tree with a good book and a tall glass of iced tea. Going to do my best to get some more outfit posts coming!

It's hypnotic, isn't it?

Well, as I've already stated a number of times a long with my love of fashion and all things vintage, I am quite the movie lover; and when I find a movie that captures all of these things I'm thrilled to say the least. I'm of course a big fan of the 80's and all the movies of the decade, so when I stumbled upon the 1987 comedy Roxanne with Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah I was surprised I hadn't seen or heard of it previously.

I've always loved both Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah and have been a fan of many of their movies, so I was more than excited to see them in a comedy together. The movie was definitely not what I expected, but I loved the quirkiness and sweet moments captured between some of the characters. On top of that, Daryl Hannah's outfits were all so adorable and care-free - many tailored pieces paired with loose flowy tops in neutral colors and over sized men's ware a long with some adorable boots and accessories (and not to mention the dewy barely-there makeup and perfectly careless tousled hair). Now the problem is, I've looked everywhere for movie stills to include and there were close to none available. So, I thought I'd put together a little grouping of pieces inspired by the looks seen in the movie.

1. Neon Lights silk top- available for $265 at polyvore.com
2. Karen Walker 'helter skelter' sunnies- $225
3. White Present flower ribbon pearl bracelet- $108
4. Go Green eco-friendly Amanda sheer tank- $38
5. Stella by Miss Kg ankle boots- $99
6. Freda grey trouser pants- $520
7. Fimo black rose tassel drop earrings- $11
8. Chloe cream blazer- found available for $640 at polyvore.com
9. Siesta by Carvela leather boots- $245
10. Floral Emb silk robe- $38

Hope everyone is having an amazing day, I'm off to do some sketching over a cup of tea with some good tunes and my pup to keep me company.

Someone like you and all you know and how you speak..

Another cloudy day, and it seems no matter how many cups of coffee I consume I can't snap out of this daze that's seems to have come over me since waking this morning. Somewhere lost between daydreaming and being carried away by the music and lyrics of my newly updated play list. I'm actually about to head out on a bike ride to see if some fresh air will clear my mind of the haziness; but thought I'd post a few things I'm currently lovinn at the moment before I take off.

Somewhat of a strange combination between 90's grunge and antiquey-boho (?)...

Most if not all of these pieces are quite different from each other; but I love each and every single one of them for different reasons and I'm actually really into the idea of taking individual items that are completely different looks and styles (and even prints) and pairing them with each other to make a look that's truly unique and all your own. I mean, what's fashion without a risk or two?

1. Pamela Love sterling silver cross ring- $230
2. Velvet tyedye tee- $145
3. Asos corsage boater hat- $47
4. Dizzy Heights fringed dress- $193
5. Divine Rights of Denim boyfriend shorts- $50
6. Florentine gold & precious stone ring- $175
7. Linda Farrow X Alexander Wang sunnies- $325
8. Indigo Child vintage coin necklace- $39
9. Miu Miu suede clog sandals- $197
10. H by Henry Holland bf blazer with polka dot detail- $68
11. Rebel Yell unruly romper- $99
12. Sprayed Core grey scarf- $68
13. Matt and Nat commix bucket bag- $230
14. Floral Doc Marten's- $130

Until I get some updated outfit pictures for a post, I thought I'd include some taken a month or so a go while my sister and I were messing around with her new Hipstamatic app on her i-phone; for those of you out there as obsessed with the look of vintage Polaroids and photographs as I am, it's definitely something you should check out (if you have an i-phone that is).

wearing:
FT tyedye denim button up, Spy-c sheer grey pocket top, thrifted black skinny jeans, thrifted jewelery and black clip in flower, vintage black lace up boots(not pictured)

I was feeling lazy and it was a gloomy day spent at the movies seeing SITC2 with my mom, but I just love the worn look Hipstamatic adds to pictures taken with it; and what's even cooler is that they have numerous settings and effects available to play around with. Sweeeeeetttt.

Currently listening to: The Execution of All Things by Rilo Kiley
Most recently watched: The ladies of The Real Housewives of New Jersey getting buckwildd (guilty pleasure)
Currently obsessing over: a black jersey maxi skirt on TopShop..want.love.need.
Dreaming of: Tahiti and all things paradise with a pinch of adventure
Craving: Cranberry chicken salad from local cafe' with EXTRA peppercinis on the side and blackberry iced tea. YUM.
Current fav. jewelery item: tie between my new tribal looking ring that takes up an entire finger (and was also a STEALLL at 4 bucks) and my amethyst stone necklace that was a gift from my brother last Christmas
Loving: all things cropped, turquoise, sheer, and fringed
Currently wearing: sheer black tank, thrifted grey cotton shorts with pockets, my teeeny vintage silver and black rope watch, and a bun on the top of my head. Gotta love lazy daysss.

Well I should really get going on my bike ride before I lose all lingering traces of enthusiasm over the idea; I've really been having a lot of fun with the posts even though at the moment I feel just a little bit like I'm the only one seeing or reading them, but hey all things take time and I did just start this thing. I know it's going to take me a while to get the hang of it, but if anyone out there feels like giving me some feedback- please do! Don't hold back!

Now I'll leave off with this Nylon TV + Kristen Stewart short; it's a bit old (from back in February when she was featured on the cover), but I'm still all about it. A lot of people have mixed feelings and opinions about her, but I for one think she is bad ass (and yes i did just say bad ass). I mean c'mon people, can you imagine for a second how it feels to be in her shoes? All the craziness and pandemonium that has suddenly enveloped her life? In my opinion she seems real, grounded, down to earth, and wise beyond her years; she's definitely not like most stars and actors of our generation, and to me that's a good- no, a great thing. So here's to the individuals like Kristen who aren't afraid to be true to themselves and stand out from the crowd.
